Staff Specialist in Endocrinology & Genetic Metabolic Bone Disease

The position is a temporary part-time backfill position with the main responsibility being provision of clinical services in Paediatric Endocrinology and Genetic and Metabolic Bone Disease. Specifically the Staff Specialist will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing diagnosis and management of children with paediatric endocrine and bone conditions. The specialist will also participate pro-rata in teaching, research and the after hours on-call service.

This position is Temporary Part Time working 12 hours per week up to 28/02/2018 and is classified as a Staff Specialist.

A specialist position within Diabetes and Endocrinology, you will be responsible for the management of high quality inpatient (including on call), outpatient and community Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine services at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Working in close liaison with other health professionals, you will ensure that patients’ health is restored or managed using evidence based best practice. Contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research within the Unit, you will supervise the clinical practice of allocated trainee medical officers within the service as well as research projects of trainee medical officers. Fostering a workplace that develops staff potential, you will encourage team work amongst staff for optimal clinical outcomes.

It is essential that you have significant experience in the provision of acute and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services. Holding appropriate specialist qualifications and registered with the Medical Board of Australia, you will bring a proven track record working within a large teaching hospital. Able to lead and manage a team to achieve specific outcomes, you will possess demonstrated leadership, management and motivational skills to maximise individual and team performance. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will reflect direct experience teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. This role will be suited to a self motivator with a strong commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team and ensuring a quality service to the patient.
